Embracing Healthy Fats: Nourishing Your Body and Mind 🥑

You've probably heard me extol the virtues of healthy fats time and time again. They're not just a dietary luxury; they're essential for optimal brain function, mood enhancement, sustained energy levels, efficient vitamin absorption, and so much more.

Consider this: Did you know that a staggering 90% of the population is deficient in Omega-3 fatty acids? These essential fats play a pivotal role in reducing inflammation—a process implicated in numerous health conditions including heart disease, gum disease, cancer, Alzheimer's, and depression. Signs of healthy fat deficiency can manifest in various ways: from little bumps on the backs of your arms to dry hair and skin, constant fatigue, poor sleep quality, difficulty concentrating, irritability, mood swings, and joint discomfort.

Incorporating healthy fats into your diet—paired with vegetables and fruits—ensures your body can absorb vital nutrients effectively. After all, fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E, and K require fats for absorption.

So, where can you find these essential fats? My go-to sources include raw nuts and seeds, coconut, avocados, wild salmon, pasture-raised eggs, dark chocolate, chia seeds, yogurt, and various oils. When it comes to cooking, I opt for coconut oil, avocado oil, grass-fed butter, or ghee to avoid the pitfalls of using olive oil, which has a low smoke point. Instead, I reserve olive oil for drizzling over salads or veggies. And when I'm yearning for a sweet treat packed with Omega-3s, my go-to is chia seed pudding—a snack staple in my kitchen.

How about you? What are your favorite ways to infuse healthy fats into your daily meals?
