I have a weakness for protein bars, but every time I glance at the ingredient list, I find myself cringing and quickly returning them to the shelf.
As someone who values knowing exactly what fuels my body, I firmly believe that if you can't pronounce it, it's probably not doing you any favors. Many commercial protein bars are packed with sugar and additives, essentially resembling candy bars in disguise.
That's why I've crafted this super simple recipe using real ingredients. It's my go-to whenever I crave a satisfying protein boost.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup cocoa butter
1/2 cup protein powder (I prefer Paleo Pro in vanilla for its shortlist of only 5 pure, high-quality ingredients.)
2 scoops Vital Proteins Collagen
1-3 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 cup melted coconut oil
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup Lily's chocolate chips (or crushed up chocolate bar)
Instructions:
Combine all ingredients except the chocolate chips in a food processor.
Blend until well combined and smooth.
Transfer the mixture into a desired mold or roll it out between parchment paper.
Sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
Place the bars in the freezer to harden.
Once firm, cut into desired shapes and store them in the fridge for easy access.
With these DIY protein bars, you can enjoy the satisfaction of knowing exactly what's fueling your body—no cringe-worthy ingredients in sight.
Here's to keeping it real, one protein bar at a time!
